Arrived at Buntzen Lake parking lot late morning on Oct 31, 2020 to hike Diez Vistas Trail. Ample parking available. Accessed the trail on foot from the entry across the floating bridge. The hike was 15kms and took under 4 hours (I consider myself an intermediate-level hiker). The first quarter of the hike is uphill switchbacks and the most challenging. Orange markers were good so it was easy to follow the trail. There are views along the way with 3 spots in particular where you could get good views to sit and/or take photos. The trail was pretty and a great place to get outside and get a work out while enjoying nature.

This trailhead is CLOSED. The trail is one way and access to trail is from the east side of the lake (near the dog beach). Diez Vistas Trail – one way trail system in place. You will need to hike the east side of the lake (via Buntzen Lake Loop Trail) to reach the entrance to this trail, so add about 45 minutes to your total hike time.

Good technical hike, with a surprising amount of inclines, roots, loose rocks, and non manicured trail. Great for getting around. Unfortunately most of the views at time of review were overgrown. Still a fun hike to do.

Nice hike, although pretty challenging at times. We did the lake trail first going out to the back of Buntzen Lake, which probably worked better because it would be pretty annoying to have to walk for an hour after doing the steep Diez Vistas portion first. The trail grade reminds me of the BCMC a lot, just up and up and up. The views are worth it though. Total time from car to car was about 3.5 hrs.
