Solid Car Rental

I would recommend NOT booking here. We made a booking the day before we went to collect our rental with a confirmed pick up time. Once we got there we were told that they did not have our reservation despite us booking through their website and having a reference number. We were told that there was nothing they could do other than POSSIBLY pick a car up later in the day that would be more expensive. We had booked our night's accommodation some hours away as we had planned to have the car which meant that we had to change our trip over the next few days as we did not have a car. They made no attempt to try and resolve the issue and we left car-less. Needless to say it was a very stressful and disappointing experience.

I don't give out 5 stars very often, but after all the horror car-rental stories we read online...you should know that our experience with Solid was excellent! We rented a car for one week in San José at the SJO location. They picked us up from the airport (pre-booked rental online). We brought our own GPS and use our VISA card coverage for the extra insurance. We drove all over the country (unlimited mileage) in our Suzuki Sidekick (ok vehicle but pretty slow in the hills - be aware when passing!). We returned the car to the depot in Uvita, no problems/no issues. The CSR closed up shop and drove us to the Uvita bus depot close to the beach (about 3 kms maybe) so that we could get a good seat on the bus. Recommended, and we're heading back to Solid very soon (next month). Approx. $350 CAD for the week.

They only do minimum 3 day rentals. (We got an offer for 40$ per day)
