This is the place to be in Costa Rica if you’re looking for something tranquil, serene, and private. The bungalows were extremely comfortable and spacious, where you can have your morning coffee as the sun rises in your own private sitting area. The private chef while I was there was absolutely amazing! Such an easy walk to the beach and restaurants as well. Probably some of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever seen.

Wow. What an incredible experience I had at the Jade Retreat. Doug is the most gracious of hosts and has created such an incredible place in Nosara. I loved Jade so much, in part because it's like a paradise in the jungle. I mean you can literally hear howler monkey's from your bungalow. And in order to get to some of the cafe's you literally have to walk through the jungle. And yet you're also walking distance to everything you could want there. I'm talking smoothies, a full gym with squat racks and free weights, restaurants, bars, surf board rental places... anything you could want to do is available and pretty much walking distance from where you stay. Did I mention there was AC? Maybe I'm a spoiled American but my gosh what a difference it made to be able to SLEEP at night in a temperature controlled environment. It made it that much easier for me to enjoy my days and make the most of my trip. I haven't even talked about the food yet. And I don't know if this is standard, but Doug has the most wonderful chef on staff that cooked meals for us while we were there. I was there on a retreat and let me tell you... having authentic home-cooked Costa Rican meals there each and every day... shark filets, fresh pressed juice, steak from the local farms, heck local coffee... *chef's kiss* it was amazing. Also, Doug, who has lived there for 10+ years is the best guide for what to do. I ended up surfing for the first time in my life. Which I can only say because I was introduced to an incredible instructor (who gave me a very reasonable rate). Also we went on an incredible zip-lining system. As well as horse back riding, sunset watching, and did yoga at a studio that literally monkeys watching you. I'm pretty sure one was downward dog at the same time I was. Anyways, I cannot recommend this place enough. I went there with no laptop and really tried to be off my phone. And I'm glad I did. Because when I left I left literally feeling lighter. Like I'd shed an extra 20lbs I'd been carrying with me without even realizing it. Please check this place out and don't expectations too low. Because no matter what Jade Retreat will blow them away. Thanks so much taking care of me Doug!

Serenity amid tropical surroundings with the finest cuisine in Cost Rica, that's what you'll find at the Jade Retreat. It's called "Retreat" for a reason, at least it has been a retreat for me whenever I've stayed at Jade. Each morning, we put the Yoga deck to good use, getting the day off to a great start. With the beach only a short walk away, it's easy to grab a surfboard and hit the waves. Or stay at Jade and relax in the pool. I've made life-changing decisions at this amazing retreat - encouraged by the people, the place, the sounds, and the sights. It's somewhere I can lose myself in the location, while finding myself in the tranquility. I'll go again. And again.

World-class surfing a block away, amazing sunsets every night, quiet, peaceful, comfortable, beautiful and in one of coolest little towns on the planet. We had a few great meals in town but, having said that, the in-house chef at Jade was so good we found ourselves eating at the retreat most of the time so I can not talk too much about the local restaurants. Playa Guiones itself is unique- a remote surf town with a grid of dirt roads scattered with great restaurants and bars, trail systems that you can use to visit some of the nearby beaches on foot and mountain bike and ATV rentals if you need to get to some of the other local attractions that are difficult to get to on foot. We will be looking to go back next year.

Jade is a hidden away in the heart of Nosara. The moment you enter the property — the energy of the garden surrounds you. A moments walk to the beach and amazing restaurants. Located in a blue zone — you will be swept away in the magic of Jade.
