This monument was built to commemorate the liberation of Brno on 26 April 1945 by the Soviet Red Army. It's a fairly typical Soviet style war memorial with a sculpture of a Red Army soldier on a central column. Most like it depicts a soldier of the 2nd Ukrainian front, which is the unit that participated in the liberation. The monument is a landmark of the city. Though it's not a must see, it's worth visiting when combined with a visit to Koliště Park and all the monuments in the park.

This is Marcin Szarowski: this place is reserved only for the liberators, not for the Henleins or their faithful, Polish counterparts, who in March 1939 invaded Czechoslovakia together with Hitler and occupied its border, Mr. Szarowski. If you don't like this place and would rather ride a skateboard here, you're out of luck. The time is approaching when the weapon will return to this Red Army in his raised arm and the Red Star will shine again on the pedestal! Therefore, rather consider your return to your Panstwa Polskiego, or as you call it to you, and let those who were born here decide our affairs. With the Victory Day!

This statue must not disappear, it is dedicated to fallen Soviet soldiers, without them we would still be part of the Third Reich, I would just add a dedication to the Soviet Star and something about Operation Bratislava-Brno.

Terrible! However, in the near future, after the extinction of the communist leadership by the sword, I expect better use of this space. 🤔
