The mountain synagogue in Hartmanice is the only reconstructed synagogue in Šumava. It was saved by the civic association Památnik Hartmanice after seven decades of decay and opened to the public in 2006. The main exhibition is dedicated to the coexistence of Czechs, Germans and Jews in Šumava. In the synagogue you can watch an audio recording of the history of the synagogue, various subjects associated with Jewish culture. We really liked the show. Open is Tue.- Sun. 9.00 to 18.00.

A well-repaired synagogue that offers a lot of experiences. Whether information about the construction and repair of the synagogue, a photo report on the defunct Šumava villages or on the lives of Jews and Germans on the border and interviews with survivors of the death march. We definitely recommend a visit!
