Synagoga Rakovník

The most famous Jewish cultural monument in Rakovník - the building of the former synagogue - was created in the years 1763 - 1764 by the reconstruction of the original residential house, which from 1736 also served as a prayer house. In the years 1938–41, Jewish services alternated with services of the Czechoslovak Church. Hussite. The Jewish prayer house with stucco decoration and murals has been preserved in its original state. The remaining part of the building is now used as a city gallery, named after the painter Václav Rabas. The 1763 synagogue is surrounded by the houses of the former Jewish quarter. The entire building is reconstructed and serves as a concert hall. Part of the building is used as a gallery.
