Maria Loreto

The Church was already closed when I arrived there in the evening. From the outside it is "ordinary" - nothing special - neither very large. The alone Location on a hill is relatively picturesque, in the local rural environment.

Church of St. Ducha dates from 1557 and is part of the Baroque pilgrimage site of Maria Loreto. It is a building with a pentagonally closed apse. After the Second World War, the whole area fell into disrepair, the main tower of the church was without a roof and the masonry and beams crumbled inside. In 1992, the former old settler Anton Hart, who was displaced in 1946, founded the Association for the Promotion of the Pilgrimage Site of Maria Loreto in Waldsassen. The association offered financial assistance to Czech state and municipal institutions and the church, as the owner of the building. Anton Hart wanted Czechs and Germans to take part in the construction of Loreta, so that it could be a joint work and a place of meeting and reconciliation. Within ten years, Anton Hart, with the help of the German Maria Loreto Association, managed to raise two million marks in Germany. At present, the whole area is beautifully repaired.

The bells ring at noon. There is peace and a nice view. Magical place.
