Pedagogical museum of J. A. Comenius in Prague

History of Comenius and its period, but also education before and after Comenius. I was here about the museum night, so it was with the courtyard program. The museum is nice and interesting. It's just not for everyone. You can see an old and older class here and try the quill pen. They also have a cafe that looks like a classroom 😉

The only pedagogical museum in the Czech Republic is located in the Lesser Town and with more than a century of tradition it is one of the oldest museums in our country. It manages an extensive archive of documents, personal collections of prominent Czech educators, a collection of komenian, maps, school paintings, old prints and a historically valuable collection of educational periodicals. In addition to the permanent exhibition, the museum is preparing short-term, thematically focused exhibitions for important anniversaries. I. Comenius died in exile and his grave is in Holland.

During the visit, you will be lovingly looked after by a museum educator. B. Practice writing with goose quill and ink. The exhibition is extensive and consistently bilingual in Czech and English, but in some cases also something general about Czech history (the museum is also often used by school classes on hiking day). The specifics of Jan Komenius and the development of pedagogy take a back seat. But you can easily spend an hour or two here. The lunch break from 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. is really annoying, if you don't stand on the mat punctually at 10:00 a.m. you run the risk of being complimented out of the building in the middle of your visit.
