Bačovský tunel

Bačov tunnel - extraterritorial highway bridge Not far from the village of Bačov is one of the most well-preserved bridges of the so-called extraterritorial highway Vienna-Wroclaw (A88), which began to be built during the German occupation. Construction began in 1939, in 1942 it was prematurely terminated due to the economic situation and German failures at the front. Currently, the use of part of the built highway body for the construction of the R 43 expressway is being considered. The bridge itself is remarkable as a technical monument - its condition is still very good even after about 80 years - see the photo of very well-preserved concrete.
