A memorial representing torn ties dedicated to people who died between 1948 and 1989 on the border in an attempt to emigrate from what was then Czechoslovakia. The memorial lists the names of 82 people who were shot, killed in electric wires or died in other ways on the western border between 1948 and 1981. The memorial was built by the city of Cheb and was unveiled on 27 June 2006. The author is the sculptor Antonín Kašpar in cooperation with the architect Jaroslav Šusta.
