The column was unveiled in 2013 and can be found in front of the castle gate. The column commemorates the places in Europe, which in the past were connected by an important family of the Staufs. It is the only one in our territory. This family is associated with an event of pan-European importance and the signing of the Golden Bull of Cheb on 12 July 1213 by the future Emperor Frederick II. The Emperor thus codified relations between secular and ecclesiastical power.

On the occasion of the 800th anniversary of the signing of the Golden Cheb Bull by Emperor Frederick II. Štaufský in the Cheb castle chapel (July 12, 1213) will be staged at 17:00 at the Štaufský sloup at the castle of Cheb. The program begins at 3 pm at St. Mikuláš in Cheb is a festive mass, celebrated by famous church dignitaries. The Štaufský sloup is a work of art symbolically connecting places all over Europe, which are historically connected with the important European dynasty of the Štaufs. The Cheb Stauff column has a meaning not only referring to the past but also to the future; it is a symbol of Europeanism in the city, which has always played a significant role in both Czech and German history.

Very beautiful column with important results in medieval Eger. Shows the close connection of Bohemia with the old empire. The castle has to be seen, it is very well restored.

The octagonal column is a work of art symbolically connecting places across Europe that are historically linked to the Stufa dynasty. It was made by sculptor Markus Wolf from Stuttgart. Including a pedestal, it is 2.95 meters high, with a gold leaf hem symbolizing the royal crown at the top. Below it are engraved signs of the Stufa, Přemyslids, Cheb and the Czech Republic.
