The Jilemnice City Library is a basic library with a universal library collection, public library and information services. The first mention of the foundation of the library dates back to 1869, when the Municipal Library was established in Jilemnice during the tenure of Mayor J. Knobloch. It has been relocated several times over the years and currently (since November 22, 1994) it uses the premises of an ancient house, which is one of the most valuable monuments in the city. Clearly arranged environment with barrier-free access. Two departments - for adult readers with fiction and non-fiction, and a department for children and youth supplemented by a reading corner. The Jilemnice Library has around 30,000 volumes of books in its collection. It offers entertaining literature for children, young people and adults, as well as educational literature for self-education and study. In addition to the loan service, there is also a reservation service, home delivery service for elderly and immobile citizens. Also very popular is the MVS (interlibrary loan service) and the ever-expanding information service, the sources of which are not only encyclopedias, catalogs and computers with library programs, but also an internet station for the public.
