Statue of Antonin Dvorak

Bronze statue of Antonin Dvorak from 1974.

Located in the park between the Teplá river and Sadová kolonáda, this monument was inaugurated on September 7, 1974, on the 70th anniversary of the composer's death, in tribute to his seven stays in the city between 1879 and 1894. and the European premiere of the Symphony of the New World. It is the work of Karel Kuneš, in collaboration with the architect Adolf Petr, who rearranged the surrounding space. The statue is bronze, in realistic style, featuring the bald artist and dressed in a coat. The figure stands on a prismatic base of polished granite on whose front the signature of the composer appears in gold characters.

It was a surprise to see the statue of Antonin Dvorak as he passed through Dvorakovy Park.
