Simply beautiful! I fell in love with Hradec during my first visit, but I got the "tip" when I arrived at Velké náměstí to the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, the fountain, Na Kropáčce Street, and watched the Gallery of Modern Art across the square. Unfortunately, just before I reached the staircase, I ran out of a flashlight, and I couldn't take pictures. Does not matter. I'm sure I'm coming next time! Gočár's staircase in Na Kropáčce Street (you pass by the beautiful Church of the Assumption of the Virgin from the Great Square to the South Terrace) was built on the site where the old water tower used to stand. The architect has done an excellent task - as in many places in Hradec - you have to see this. It is not only an interesting place, but it will also somehow calm you down and forget about the things you thought about a minute ago. Full count! :) Simply beautiful! Josef Gočár was one of the architects who, with their timelessness and modern concept, shaped the appearance of Hradec Králové. There was a gap in the water tower on the site of the staircase, and in 1909-1910 Josef Gočár filled it with a staircase that connected the Great Square, the South Terraces and the Lower Town. Typical for him are three lanterns in an arch.
