First of all, it's a beautiful city Villa with a lovely garden. On top of that, they have an amazing permanent exhibition with highlights of blue rider and new objectivity groups as other genre from expressionism onwards. In addition there is also contemporary part, with changing exhibitions. In a rainy day, take 1-1,5 hours and in sunny days add at least half an hour for sitting in the garden.

The villa itself is very pretty. Focus on Gabriele Münter as a founding member of the Blaue Reiter group. Large collection of her oil & glass paintings as well as lots of drawings.

Great art museum in Munich. The architecture is interesting and also the collections. There is everything for everyone as far as periods go. I like modern art best and the small collection. While they are famous there is more to see than any other museums I think. Must see during day city tour by bus.

One of the best art museums in Munich. The blue rider period is the most interesting thing in this museum but they have some other interesting exhibitions as well.
