If you're an international tourist, it's not a good idea to visit this museum. Unfortunately just a handful of texts have been translated to English, everything else is in German, which is such a pity considering how large their collections are. Come only if you have seen the nice outdoor places Bamberg has to offer, or if it's a really rainy day. No credit card accepted at the ticket shop. But staff was friendly.

A good museum about a place where not a lot has happened. Could be greatly improved by more English explanations and long form narratives. Also more interactivity. Themed more around regional activities than a historical narrative, this nevertheless is a worthy place to gen up on all things Bamburg.

This used to be the old residence but abandoned for other uses after the new residence was built. Its entrance looks very beautiful.

The old court was later replaced by the new residence, but luckily it was left standing. The old half-timbered buildings are beautiful and look more like a big old manor. You can take photos very well from the large forecourt.

Nice museum on civil culture in the 19th century in Bamberg with a collection of paintings that is well worth seeing. The premises alone are interesting in themselves, such as the horse stable from 1477/78, the installation of which was renewed in 1731. We also tracked down the original "Apfelweibla" from the 18th century. We also liked the exhibition "Bag by Bag" on the history of the plastic bag. In any case, there is enough to see, including countless treasures. The visit was worth it for us.
