University Mainz - University of Applied Sciences

Taught a TOEFL course there, and personally know multiple individuals who have gotten degrees from HS Mainz and are moving forward in promising careers because of it. Great, modern and intimate university.

I studied industrial engineering and construction at the HS Mainz for 5 semesters. The HS is overall ok and so are the professors, although it is sometimes a bit more backward than other universities. Perhaps it was also because the industrial and civil engineers in the old building were in the city center, which had advantages and disadvantages. The atmosphere between the professors and especially between the students was very pleasant and I fondly look back on the time. In the end I switched because the subject Technical Mechanics 2 was inhumanly difficult and even the tutor or the tutorials didn't really help much. Before the third attempt was due, I switched. SLVs count as a failed attempt. In the case of TM2, this meant passing 2 SLVs with failure rates of up to 85% and then another exam with a similarly high failure rate. Overall, the Mainz University of Applied Sciences was okay, but I preferred to graduate from another university.

Cool people there, especially in the small building across the street.
