Reviews
After changing management, a new wind was supposed to blow in the second state exam. This has succeeded so far, but unfortunately the development is in a completely absurd direction. Less emphasis is placed on clinically relevant and frequently occurring, but rather on small detailed knowledge and rare diseases, which undoubtedly does not really serve the medical education, but only to increase the severity. Rather than being glad that the medical education of the university is getting better and better, the question - whether out of helplessness or misguided ambition - is broadened to useless knowledge, which a very large number of physicians do not need or need in their lives. However, one has to ask the question whether this IMPP with its new facade is suitable for checking what it should actually be there for. What will be left behind are helpless and overburdened teachers and learners. After the current developments is no longer clear what the goal of the education of medical professionals in Germany should be.
Rare syndromes, highly theoretical questions and other hummingbirds are often requested.
In one case, theoretical assumptions are suddenly taken and the patient is suddenly 10 years older and has a completely different disease, or too much information is simply missing to answer a question adequately.
There are also questions that are so maximally formulated, that you do not even know what it is all about in the end.
This institute (within the framework of the following), unfortunately, most likely, can not ask any reasonable questions!
Or did your family doctor wonder how many people in his region had ever had back pain? No? That could be because he has no time for such nonsense.
Unfortunately, during the exams, some "certain" topics are completely over-represented, while important other areas are dealt with in a question.
Also, the questions in which diagnoses should be made on the basis of two obscure symptoms, without the simplest examinations such as blood pressure or an inspection of the patient was carried out, prepare the students unfortunately only on the memorization of facts and not on the clinic.
It is unbelievable how one of the most important examinations in medical studies is made into an experiment. Instead of checking relevant content from all areas, the IMPP is focusing more and more on the rarest clinical pictures of individual small disciplines. In addition, the unclear, dare and unfair phrasing comes to that, in my opinion, no longer fulfill their function, namely to test knowledge. Instead, it's about who can guess the best. Whether this necessarily ensures the quality of the medical student is uncertain.
Instead of examining important, clinically relevant specialist knowledge for physicians, the IMPP loses itself in detail questions without relevance and vague phrasing. Unfortunately, this trend has become even clearer with new leadership.
