I had an appointment at the dentist today because I have acute severe toothache and urgently need to see a doctor. At the reception I immediately informed that I am not covered by health insurance but will pay in cash. The lady at the front desk wanted to clarify this with the dentist in advance. I submitted my ID to legitimize myself. When, after an hour in the treatment room, I was with the responsible employee, I mentioned this again. She then left me alone for a while without any information and I sat alone in the treatment room for so long without knowing why. After a while, Dr. Märtin and explained to me that he no longer had a cash register and that he could not collect the money from me. I offered him to deposit an amount equal to the invoice as security and to transfer the invoice amount online immediately. That would be no different than if he charged the benefit to a private patient and by depositing it, he would not have taken any financial risk. So I showed him a workable solution. Despite acute toothache, an appointment and cash available, I was turned away. After the appointment, I read on the Internet that pain patients should not be turned away, especially since I had a fixed appointment. I also didn't understand the doctor's approach. I sat there with my toothache, hoping for medical help. This is exactly why you go to the dentist. But that wasn't the focus here at all. Maybe my assessment will help Dr. Märtin to think about the fact that there are cases like me and maybe the next customer who doesn't fit exactly into the grid has a chance that he will be helped anyway. A great dentist. I have been there for years. Always friendly, not a long wait. I was always afraid of the dentist but there was never any reason for him.
