The venue is vast and has an impressive portfolio of world renowned paintings. But at the time of my visit it was hosting a photographic exhibition by Thomas Ruff, which was amazing. The set of negative treatments were really a revelation to me. However, there were 10 3d satellite images of Mars that took me out of this world. I am determined to revisit.

The collection is very large and impressive, with some important works from Klee, Picasso, Max Ernst, Dalí and so on. It comprises good works from European/German Modernism and its different movements. It also extends for posterior art movements until more recent ones. The explanations are short, but very complete, allowing one to follow the different perspectives. Everything was in written in German and English. There were also good exhibitions (Thomas Ruff and Technology Transformation) when I visited.

Loved it! Very well structured, great selection of paintings, interesting interpretations and a much needed consciousness to show colonialist tendencies and influences in the art world! (Would recommend everyone to buy the tickets for both the K20 and K21 -9€- and take stroll along the Rhine inbetween :))

Great exhibition with works of Pablo Picasso, Jackson Pollock, Andy Warhol. Unfortunately some of the guards (there are really lot of them in the museum!) spoil the impression of the museum - not all of them - but some of them - I feel uncomfy when they looking at every your step. And definitely not a kids friendly place!!!

Worth it! During the time I visited, there was an exhibition on Picasso’s work and life. It was very interesting to learn about his life, how it affected his work, and how World War II influenced his paintings. I spent around 1.5 hr just going through this exhibition (mind you I read every work description). As for the permanent exhibition, I spent around 1-1.5hr on it (reading all descriptions as well). I would say if you don’t read all the details like me, you might only need 1-2hr for all exhibitions. If you are interested in a more modern (20th century) artwork, you should definitely visit!
