Many generations of Oberesslinger children went up the "Schulbergele" to their village school, not far from the church. A snapshot from 1828 shows how small the Württemberg village with 1300 souls was at that time. There were about 170 schoolchildren this year who were taught by a single teacher. If we go back 1800 years, there was no Oberesslingen. Almost at the point where the school was to be much later, was an estate run by Roman Agrarians on the edge of the Roman Empire. Now the last hour of the old, dilapidated school building has soon struck, it should give way to a residential development.
