In glorious sunshine, great way to run from Horkheim to Nordheim

First of all, the nature on the old Neckar must be mentioned, which is, by the way, closed to shipping and therefore does not lead any of the commercial Neckarbummler / Neckard steamers directly to Nordheim, but sends them over the slightly more distant channel. Thus, the river was able to renaturate to some extent and recover again. This worked so well that now and then the rarely seen kingfisher can be seen plunging branches and twigs overhanging the river from its observation point and diving shortly thereafter with small fish in its beak. But nature is not everything. The "Pizzeria Riviera" restaurant is located directly at the train station. It is best not to be fooled by the rather everyday / boring name (which, incidentally, was simply taken over by the previous owners), because here, in addition to the expected Italian food, there is also original Romanian cuisine. Micitei, cabbage wraps, hearty stews and more original Romanian dishes can be enjoyed here in a relaxed pizzeria atmosphere. The best comes at the end in the form of desserts and sweet pastries. The owners worked as confectioners in their old homeland of Bucharest and make wonderful small cuts and other sugary pastries. Last but not least, the "Kurt-von-Marval Haus" must be mentioned. Small and inconspicuous, it rises above the Nordheimer Bahnhof in the middle of the vineyards and thus overlooks the Neckar Valley with the old Neckar and the Neckar Canal, which is designed for shipping. The philanthropist "Kurt von Marval" is of particular importance for the village of Nordheim and its development. Through his generous donations, among other things, he made a contribution to the community and even the old family home of Marvals passed into community ownership and is now the town hall. It is therefore no wonder that the local elementary school is named after him.
