Definitely there is much to see, especially if you are into art, paintings and baroque castles. However, there is too little information in English, so if you are a non-German speakers, you will have problems. Many of the staff members did not speak any English. In the beginning I was told that I can photograph freely without flash, later they told me I need to pay additional 5 EUR for photography.

Beautiful residence castle. A real shame I did not come here earlier. If you ever pass Gotha stop by and enjoy the castle, its museums and the historic city of Gotha.

Beautiful baroque style castle built in the mid 1600's (West wing completed 1648, East Wing 1650, Great Hall in East tower 1656). Can see all four exhibitions in €10 (as of May 19, 2019). Taking photos are prohibited unless you purchase a €5 pass in the north wing, where the principle living rooms were. Buy an English guide book called "Castle Friedenstein Your" for €3 at the museum shop before you go as the descriptions inside don't really explain much in English. Ekhof Theatre was apparently a must see; unfortunately we ran out of time and couldn't see it.

Unfortunately not completely visible through a construction site (indoors), but still worth a visit. Very beautifully preserved parquet, great wall murals, pictures, furnishings from the ducal times. The special exhibition is also very good. When everything is completely restored a piece of jewelry.
