First Photograph is of Schaarhorn lying in Buckie Harbour Scotland, the second one is her lying in the River Tyne in Newcastle England. She was towed down to Newcastle where repairs were attempted but was then moved to Maryport in Cumbria and eventually she was shipped back to Hamburg for a full restoration

The steamship "Schaarhörn" was built in 1908 as a so-called "Peildampfer" and put into service by the building deputation of the Senate of Hamburg. In reality she was a luxury yacht. Today it is owned by the Hamburg Maritime Foundation and can be chartered. Was the setting in a German feature film. "After its commissioning for the city of Hamburg as a direction finder and for representation purposes in 1908, it was used as an auxiliary minesweeper during World War I. After World War I it was launched until 1925. After that, it resumed its original activity as a direction finding and inspection vessel, now for the Cuxhaven waterway authority and from 1949 for the Cuxhaven Waterways and Shipping Office, back on. After a further lay-in period, the Schaarhörn was bought back in 1990 by a community facility from Hamburg merchants. In 1993 she was the first ship to be included in the Hamburg list of monuments (Wikipedia). "

Great ship and a great crew - it's always fun to enjoy a trip on the Elbe.
