The Barmbek U- and S-Bahn station is the hub for north-east Hamburg. However, the connections of the short extension Barmbek - Wandsbek Gartenstadt are rather suboptimal. If you come from Wandsbek-Gartenstadt, you can only make it to Schlump without waiting if you change the platform in a brisk sprint. So get in strategically correctly and start sprinting. Otherwise, you can take your time (and lose). In the meantime, the station is almost completely renovated.
