Neue Schenke

With the two-track expansion of the Jena-Gera line, the "Bahnhof" Neue Schenke has changed its face to a sterile and only the most essential stop (platforms, entrances, weather protection). The former station building was used differently. The location on the outskirts of the city and near some commercial facilities has certainly not always been particularly attractive. For example, the new construction area Lobeda-Ost and the local tram stop are not really far away on foot (5-10m walk), but the A4 motorway separates the railway system from the top. Overall, the desolate environment is not particularly inviting and does not convey a feeling of security. Parking spaces for cars and a storage space for bicycles offer opportunities for P + R and P + K.
