09/11/2019 In a recent report by the Bayer. Broadcasting over the typewriter museum is shown to one of the staff executing that the typewriter has been replaced by the computer. This is not entirely true. Although the typewriters have largely disappeared through the computer, the computer could not replace the typewriter. Forms used to be filled out with the typewriter. Normally you can not fill out a form with the computer (unless it is specified in the program). That is why forms are filled out by handwriting even by people who speak the keyboard. If you know the different manuscripts of the people, you know how it is in this regard for readability. This is clearly a step backwards from the "typewriter time". A substitution can therefore not be talk of "displacing" without offering an equivalent replacement. Perhaps the Typewriter Museum should also see this from this point of view and just point out this retrograde as a "typewriter nostalgic", especially since many forms are filled out in everyday life and this is done today mostly by handwriting. Moreover, it is very commendable that there are volunteers who are dedicated to the development of the typewriter and do not forget this time. The city of Bayreuth should do its utmost to support this and also strive for better marketing in the interests of tourism. Everyone here is involved in a lot of success and determination.

Certainly interesting museums.

Open by appointment! A recommendation for every nerd and technology fan! - - At our institute in Bayreuth, one of the most important German typewriter history collections has been established since 1936, based on a collection created in 1934. It gives a comprehensive picture of the development of writing technology in the past one and a half centuries. - - That is true and worth it!
