Small but excellent museum. Unmissable for those who like modern history, especially for non Germans. Very close to the more famous Wildpark.

"Astonishing" was my first impression. Because it's the only (dedicated) DDR Museum within the borders of the old BRD (what the h***?). Because the building (ex French Garnison Kindergarten) is used perfectly across three stores. Because the commitment to educate of the volunteers working there (no entrance fee, but donations very welcome). Because the complexity of the exhibition (historical/social/military/personal/industrial/.. aspects covered). Because the professional style of documentation and multimedia, which seriously it's on level of highly funded public museums (Bonn: "Haus der Geschichte" for example). Because of very passionate guides which share a lot of context and ordinal insights on their tours. Be aware so of the opening hours, and reserve at least 2h for a first visit. There is more to explore as you may imagine from the outside! Highly recommend!
