La Hacienda

One of the best places in Las Galeras, Karin takes an incredible care with the animals! I recommend your stay at all, whether with family, couple or alone, your stay will be a good memory.

La Hacienda is a good place on a hilltop 30 minutes walk from Las Galeras centre . Perfect if you like peace and quiet and a lot of cats. Some people may argue that it has more focus on old cats than holiday guests, because the furniture is worn down and some of the chairs you could have used are reserved for cats... Karin is a nice lady with ample knowledge of the area, but she could have needed a bit of help to keep this place up to par for paying guests. However, we enjoyed our short stay and had a fantastic ride down to Madama Beach on her very patient and friendly horses.

I stayed at the ranch for 5 days and it was awesome! Everything was clean, it was calm and you find cats, dogs and horses everywhere. She is treating the animals super nice! I really recommend this place! Also she took good care of us. We hiked one day to la playa Frontón and she was super worried. We dealed that if we will not arrive at 6pm she will look for us. Make sure you bring enough food and cash. But las Galeras has anything... But it's qui far. It'll take you around 30 minutes walking or 100npesos for a moto :)

In May 2011 I stayed here with my girlfriend and we were very well received. Karen, the owner, is a truly lovely lady who knows everything there is to know about this part of the island. She took us on a horseback riding trip, which was a wonderful experience, even for my girlfriend who was scared to death of horses. But Karen matches everyone up with the right horse, so everyone can enjoy the trip. The rooms at the Hacienda are basic but clean, as is the communal kitchen and hang-out area. Although the house is quite remotely located, I recommend at least a few days at this ranch to enjoy the peaceful quietness and Karen's warm hospitality.

La Rancheta is better, then La Hacienda as for me. The owner is awesome. And La Rancheta is on the plain surface (which is better if you have backpacks), while La Hacienda is located on the hill... We ran out of money and we had only strictly small amount of money. Woman, owner of La Hacienda, refused to make a _small_ discount, despite the fact that she had no clients. Man, owner of La Rancheta, made a small discount and shared his dinner with us (for free, of course). Sharing is caring :)
