Hacienda La Ciénega

This hotel / mansion has a lot of historical significance and much of the hotel feels preserved that way. Like a trip through time. I would recommend staying here for this reason! It is beautiful and unique and likely better than most hotels in Ecuador. It gets a four star because as it is an older property and you will feel it in some aspects. For example, the rooms needed electric heaters to heat it because at the time it was built, likely heating was not available other than fire places. Or the bed frames in the room are all different from each other. I’ve been to properties like this where a complete inside renovation is done to feel modern and luxurious on par with five star hotels while preserving the outside and the historical elements (also much more expensive). This is not that, it is more like preserving the original feel of the property which has a lot of charm. I would definitely recommend this property.

I would highly recommend this place, beautiful and with and unique history. You feel in a time travel! I loved the fireplace in our room. The service was very nice and the restaurant as well! A must if are in the área close to Cotopaxi!

An amazing 400 year old compound near Cotopaxi. Our room had a cozy fireplace and sitting area. Highly recommend.

Great lunch here. Did not stay in room but food was terrific!
