It is a place out of the natural where for a few minutes you get lost from reality since with an image like this and its descriptions many ideas can come to your head more than everything is a beautiful tourist landscape to pose as a family in a postcard or photo that you will love to visit again and again❤️❤️

It needs maintenance, I suppose because of the Pandemic it is a little neglected. But the landscape looks good

On the way to Santo Domingo and Quito, a nice place for photos and family walks. It represents Satanas and is located on the Alóag - Santo Domingo road, 5 km from the town of Tandapi, which is why it is also usually called The Devil of Tandapi. It is especially notorious for its size and known since the Quito-Guayaquil land route circulates around here and vice versa. It is a source of curiosity for those who circulate around the place, despite the fact that it is neglected. The figure, which is 30 meters above the ground, is 20 meters high and stands out at the top of a hill that faces the curve of the road. The face has two horns that rise above the forehead; the pointed nose, the mouth, half open, reveals two fangs. At the base is written the phrase, in capital letters, "The brutal power." There have been many stories and exaggerations about the sculpture of ‘Brutal Power’, better known as the Devil of Tandapi, located two kilometers before reaching the town (a parish in the Mejía canton) in the direction of Quito. Luis Felipe Buenaño, son of the author, after 3 years of the death of his father, tells the true story, how the events happened and what motivated Cristóbal Buenaño to sculpt such a work, which contains a message for the world. This story was born in the hands of a man whom, according to his son, God endowed him with ability and intelligence. This is Cristóbal Octaviano Buenaño Núñez, who arrived in Santo Domingo on November 23, 1963, accompanied by his wife, Laurita Paredes, from Ambato. He immediately began to work in the mechanics of Eduardo Mora, who gave them all his support and even came to consider them as his parents; in 1965 he started working in the Ministry of Public Works as a heavy machinery operator. Since his arrival in Santo Domingo, he grew fond of this land, which opened the doors for him, for which he never neglected the idea of reciprocating with it. After a few years he was able to express a great message for Santo Domingo and the world. One day, without prior notice, on the side of the Aloag - Santo Domingo highway, the Devil appeared and the news spread like wildfire. Every time we travel this road to enter the humid mountain of the province of Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, we see a gigantic face that arouses many concerns. The sculpture had been carved after the slope of the road, in which the Public Works workers carried out maintenance work and the sculptor shared the time in directing the work and carving the rock. When it was complete, they moved the earth that protected it from gaze and, from one day to the next, the Brutal Power appeared. This monumental work was built between 1984 and 86 by the sculptor César C. Octaviano Buenaño N., it is a few kilometers from the town of Manuel C. Astorga (TANDAPI), on the road that leads from Aloag to Santo Domingo.

A very interesting sculpture. But an appropriate place should be made to park. Since it is quite visited and the cars are left on the edge of the road and people cross the highway to take a picture.
