Chilcabamba Lodge

Excellent lodge very close to Cotopaxi volcano. Great food, really nice ladies running the place. Great location for walking around the volcano

We just loved it here. My wife and I stayed in a clean, cozy rustic room with a fireplace. The friendly personal makes great breakfast and even better dinner, which is served in the welcoming main house. Chilcabamba is located in a grassy plain and is surrounded by several high Mountains, which can be explored by foot and Mtn bike. The road to Cotopaxi is wide enough for save biking.

Huge room, no wardrobe, well presented food. Log burner and ponchos help keep chill at bay. Well placed for exploring area near Cotopaxi National park. Access by stone block roads with subsidence and potholes challenging to English driver.

What a great little lodge at the foot of Cotopaxi. Small and friendly, warm and comfortable, with fantastic food, comfy beds for a good night's sleep, wood burning stoves to keep the rooms cosy and excellent hot showers. It is rustic but certainly not basic. Gourmet tasting menu on request by a chef who has trained in the top restaurants of Spain and Brazil but has developed a menu based on Ecuadorean traditions. Lots of excursions available: hiking, horse riding, whatever you want. The resident manager is most helpful. Highly recommended.

Chilcabamba Mountain Lodge is in an isolated, almost alpine location that gives access for walkers to the nearby mountains. It's a beautiful and rustic hacienda, with warming wood fires, good Ecuadorian food, and very comfortable beds for the weary soul. You can take your time here. There's no rush.
