Simply incredible butterfly "mariposium". The one to see in Mindo. A tad pricey, relatively speaking, but beautiful. It's also a great place for kids. One thing of note: Hosteriá Mariposa's website location is NOT correct, but Google's IS correct. In this case, trust google. It's a ways down the dirt road (about 3 km from Mindo) as well, so hitching a ride with a passerby is a good idea. Most pickup truck drivers will pick you up and take you there for $1 or free.

It is a beautiful place, they treated us very well and it is worth paying the entrance fee because that helps the facilities remain in good condition. The perfect decoration details. We stayed for hours watching the butterflies and hummingbirds. We bought some beautiful mugs and had lunch there. Everything perfect in times of pandemic we feel safe at all times.

I found this place expensive for the little to offer in my opinion. Flying butterflies are really beautiful, but the price brings this beauty down. The explanations are Spanish mixed with English, so I understood half of it. Butterflies can easily be seen emerging from their cocoons every 10 minutes. It is best to go there early in the day and it is achievable in a 30 minute walk from Mindo Park. The path is well identified and the slope is minimal.
