Hidden House Hostel Mompiche

Perfect location. Laid back. No hot water. I loved staying here and would do so again. Very relaxing... But noisy at night but that goes with the perfect location!!

In 14 months of backpacking, this was BY FAR my worst hostel experience.  The crashing surf is only meters away, but if you'd rather hear loud sh***y music from sunset until the wee hours, then this is your place.  When you arrive & check in, nothing & nobody tells you that this is a (wannabe) party hostel, it doesn't even have a bar. But when I asked the owner about turning down the music at around 11, he said it goes until midnight or 1am even though it's Wednesday night & literally everyone is just sitting around.  I asked for my money back so I could find a different place where I could actually sleep. He flat refused, saying that's how they do business in Ecuador (he's from the UK). He requires payment when you check in, now I know why. He might respond to this saying that they have a bar.  No, they have a beer cooler that was nearly empty. That's it, there's no bar.  Just about every hostel I've been in has a beer cooler, that's not a sign of a party hostel.  Or he'll say that I was angry & that's why he wouldn't refund my money. Yeah I was pretty pissed, when I checked in it looked like a chill hostel where I could relax & maybe get some sleep, not a wannabe club w/ nobody on the dance floor.  I tolerated hours of his sh***y music and was perfectly calm until he told me it might go until 1am.

This hostel is in a great location right next to the beach as well as some good places to eat and drink. Room was clean and tidy with mosquito nets over all the beds. Having free WiFi and breakfast included was brilliant given the price, would definitely recommend staying here!

Very good location, near to the Monpiche beach, lovely peoples, but the only think that they have "fiesta" until the midnight and if your objective is to relax is not the good place for you!!

Great place in Mompiche with dorm rooms and privates. We had a simple but clean double room with window (only downside=no mosquito net). Lovely couple managing the place. Great breakfast. We would recommend Mompiche and the hostel for everybody interested in a quiet fishing village with nice beach and good vibe. Dont expect a party place like montanita. Would absolutely stay at Hidden House Hostel again!!
