La Facha Hostel Restaurant & Surf

We didn’t stay here but did have dinner here one night - basic but freshly made and full of flavour. Nice white wine. We also had a coffee here one morning - it was pricey but really really good coffee - which was tricky to find in Mompiche. Munchies is the other place for good coffee (although if you want anything with milk you’ll have to go to the bakery - they have an espresso machine so can froth milk but the coffee they use in it is terrible)

What a pleasure it was to stay at Hostel La Fache, in Mompiche, Ecuador. For the budget conscious it is an great experience. Chef/owner Tito, has it well worked out. His food is excellent, good cocktails, he serves breakfast with accommodation. It is clean & tidy. He speaks English which helped us. The staff are friendly & accommodating. Surfboard hire, tours it's all here. Thanks for an awesome experience in Mompiche.

This review is of the restaurant; we didn't stay in the hostel. The first few times we tried coming in, the restaurant wasn't yet open, though their posted hours suggested it would be. It's probably best to come two hours after the posted opening. Once we did get in, we were greeted with good service, good music, and great food. The prices are a little high for Ecuador, but certainly not unreasonable. There is also an adorable cat that seduces you, with its formidable wiles, to feed it fish. We ordered encocado (a local fish dish to Mompiche) and a vegetable pasta without parmesan. The fish dish was excellent, though the pasta did come out half-cheesy. Beer selection was a little bad for Mompiche, and we ordered a coke (it was ICE COLD -- yum).
