Cold and filthy, but the guard serves good food, and the best hub to the summits of both Ilinizas.

The host Gato is great. Dinner was good, breakfast had a nice spread of yogurt granola and eggs. Cost for dinner, lodging, and breakfast is $30 (January 2019) and can be booked through the refuge's Facebook page. Two unisex bathrooms (bring your own TP), mattresses do not include bedding so bring a warm sleeping bag and a pillow. This is a base camp for mountaineering exploits. So keep in mind it is unheated (though fairly warm with so many bodies). It is tight quarters (sleeps about 15). It is noisy (snoring, people getting up for alpine starts) so ear plugs and an eye mask are *highly* recommended.

To be at an altitude of 4700 m if it is 5 stars since in an emergency it is the maximum.
