El Pinzón

The hostel room war pretty cheap for Santa Cruz. But looking back, we should have spent a little more money for a decent room in another hostel. We didn’t habe a window on our room & the a/c was broken. Also, the staff could never be found at any time. The bathroom was tiny & the walls didn’t close up at the ceiling. You did not have any privacy in the bathroom when there were other people in the room.

Nice Hostal in a good location, everything is in walking distance. Our room was always clean, the staff was friendly. Try to get a room with an outside window though, the walls are very thin.

Big hostel. We get a very big room with comfortable bed. Our windows where inside of the building, so you will never get a fresh air in you room. Also if someone turns on the light in the corridor, you get a lot of light in your room. Air Conditioning was very loud. The kitchen, where you can prepare you own meals is big and has all what you need. Free drinking water is included.

We booked a “deluxe room”, it had no windows but it did have cockroaches. We were moved to another, smaller, room that had no cockroaches but also no WiFi coverage and enough damp that none of our swimming clothes or towels could stand a chance of drying. There was a cockroach floating in the pool most of the first day. The owners didn’t seem surprised or to care that much. The kitchen is also poorly equipped with not enough hobs, no oven and one frying pan. The only upside is the owners friendly dog. Just skip this one and find somewhere else.
