Terrible agency! I did the Iliniza norte with a guide who was not an official one. And they made me pay the price of a certified one!!! It'd even written on my receipt "Guía Certificado". He has been running in front and did not pay any attention to me. When we had to go back, he stayed at the refuge and I had to go down to the parking lot by myself. Extremely unprofessional and even dangerous...

I went with Tovar Expeditions as organised via the Hostal Tiana backpackers in Latacunga. The guide, Julian, was simply wonderful - very experienced (he’d summited 692 times), v supportive and just a great guy. The rental equipment was first class and varied. I decided to go with a personal guide because the idea of having to go back because someone else couldn’t go further wasn’t appealing - was very difficult but 100% worth it

A disaster and that's to say ... We asked to climb to the top of Cotopaxi. After trying on 5 pairs of shoes because they were in poor condition, I finally got a decent pair. The material is average. We paid 230 usd which seems expensive to me for the covid period. - The establishment certified us that the refuge in which we would stopover was renovated and heated. The reality is quite different. Dormitory of 16 people and no heating. We slept with our 3 hiking pants as well as the sleeping bag and 3 blankets ...! I have no problem with that but I would not have paid this amount. The guide was supposed to speak English. Despite the fact that I speak Spanish, the guide didn't say a word to us. Very unpleasant throughout the trek and does not help ... unheard of. I'm not talking about the car they use to transport you. I felt safer on the buses in Cambodia. In short, other agencies, especially in Quito, offer this tour and according to the national park rangers, the price would be worth much more.
