Nicky Amazon Lodge

Deeply disappointing. Not any local food nor drinks. Food quality is low, serving supermarket's canned fruit at desert when you know the wondrous variety of tasty fruits ecuador can provide, that's indecent. Meat/fish portions are quite low, expect a 1/8 for the chicken, 1/2 of little fish.(for 100$+ a day, we can expect more. Instant coffee whereas some grow in the region. Hiking the jungle = walk around the houses of the lodge Guide telling fake stories about 30+ ayahuasca trips he would have made or him tearing a dog's placenta with its teeth to save the puppet, that's ridiculous. At lunch and dinner the guide bumping from the guest table to a "hidden" table with apparently better company. If he doesn't want to talk he could just leave and avoid all this comedy. Among the activities, you could walk 3 hours seeing nothing and fishing 3 hours not catching anything but also another day got lucky and see a sloth or an anaconda. The jungle is not that dense but really worth it, the problem here is the staff.

This was one of our best travel experiences ever! We loved it. A combination of Gilligan’s Island and National Geographic. I was over 50 when my wife and I went. There were a bunch of great college kids from all over the world there and it was so much fun. Diego was an amazing guide and found everything from howler monkeys to pink dolphins to the great sloth for us to see. Caught piranhas, fed the cayman, photographed the toucans. So glad we made the adventure!

Good lodge, with decent rooms for the price. Great local food everyday. Our guide Ebbi was incredibly knowledgeable and could tells everything we needed about the local fauna.

We found out about this at our language school in Quito and were amazed by the quality often apartments and the extremely knowledgeable guides. The meals come as 3 course and they are extremely accommodating in case you have dietary issues as well. Wonderful experience - I wish we would have more than 3 nights at the lodge

Incredible experience. We had a very knowledgeable guide, Diego, who was very respectful towards the nature and knew really everything about the animals and plants. We went on early boat rides to spot dolphins, monkeys, birds and anacondas and he went beyond to make sure we all saw them We had a small group, and the accomodation was clean and served amazing vegetarian food. Freshly baked bread and squeezed juices in the morning! Can recommend this place enough!
