Konguta, Tartumaa, 58.229240, 26.295544 58 ° 13 '45.26 ", 26 ° 17' 43.96" The Suure-Konguta manor was founded in the Middle Ages. The first mention of the manor is dated 1417 year. At that time, the manor belonged to von Tiesenhausen, it was a vazal mound or a fortified manor. The castle was destroyed during the Livonian and Polish-Swedish War, almost nothing remained of the castle except the walls and the moat. In Swedish time, the manor belonged to Sparred and Fleming. At the end of the 17th century, the manor was nationalized and retired to the state for more than 100 years. In 1791, the Russian Empress Catherine II presented the manor to General Samuel von Greigel. The manor was not in the possession of the general for a long time. In the 19th century, the manor changed many owners. In 1908, the manor was acquired by Otto von Ungern-Sternberg, who began to equip the modest central part of the manor in order to give it a more representative appearance. By 1910, a two-storey manor house in the haimat style was built on the manor. One part of the building was attached to the old and simple part of the manor house, which was built in the early 19th century or even earlier. When building a new manor house, the foundation of a vazal medieval castle was used. After nationalization, in 1921 there was a school in the building, which functioned until 1965. Later in the building was a children's home. In our time, the manor is in private ownership.
