My favorite, special, beloved Von Bock. You host Department of Estonian and Comparative Folklore for a 100 years. You saw Aleksander I, Russian emperor. You are the alma mater for hundreds of students. The oldest building of the University of Tartu. Bless you!

You will certainly notice the Von Bock House (1780) at Ülikooli 16 in the centre of Tartu, which used to belong to Oberst MJ von Bock. The University of Tartu bought the building in 1839. The house was renovated and reopened in 2007. There is a mural that depicts the main building of the University of Tartu on the building’s wall that faces the Town Hall and an exhibition of Alar Madisson’s photos of current lecturers and legendary professors of the University of Tartu is up on the wall next to Jakobi Street. Interesting facts: - the Von Bock has been the home of the University of Tartu Clinic, a veterinary school and the library of the Learned Estonian Society in different times. The building currently belongs to the University of Tartu.

The witty decoration of the facade with window stickers attracted attention. The stickers look particularly comical, which, apparently, were intended for the existing front windows - they were neatly arranged nearby, somewhat disturbing the harmonious architectural order. In my opinion, this curious phenomenon is somewhat reminiscent of a good statement - they wanted “as better”, but it turned out “as always”.

A very beautiful giant and true work of art on the end wall of Von Bock House on the side of Tartu Town Hall. The wall painting depicts the historic main building of the University of Tartu. An exact copy of an engraving by Louis Höflinger, completed in 1860. Designed and implemented in cooperation with the teachers and students of Tartu Art College.

Ülikooli 16, Tartu 58.380569, 26.720724 58 ° 22 '50.05 ", 26 ° 43' 14.61" Von Bock House is one of Tartu's most noteworthy architectural features. The house was built in 1780, and in 1781 it passed into the possession of Von Bok, who attached two more to the purchased house, on both sides of the building, resulting in a wonderful architectural ensemble. In 1839, the house was bought by the University of Tartu and for many years it housed a clinic, veterinary school and even a library. The house was restored and reopened for visits in September 2007. On the wall from the Town Hall Square there is a wall drawing with the main building of the University of Tartu, and on the wall from the side of Jacobi Street there is a photo exhibition of Alar Madisson with photographs of current university teachers and legendary professors, the main criterion for selection of which was popularity among students.
