It was used as prison and a weapon tower back in the 14th century. During the visit you'll definitely get a good feel of the place. This tower gives an amazing view of the town hall and is a must visit. Nowadays it houses art gallery and is just a place to visit. The ticket for entry is pretty cheap around 4 Euro. I'll highly recommend anyone who do visits Tallinn to visit this tower preferably during sunset hours. That will give you the best view of the city as well as you can enjoy the tower more. You can cover the whole place in 30-45 mins easily in my view.
The view from the city wall is unfortunately not that great. The houses surrounding the wall are nowadays as high or higher than the wall itself. Even up in the Hellemann tower it’s a bit limited what you see. But it’s reasonably cheap to enter and it only takes half an hour and to walk through it all, so no reason to skip it if you’re in the neighborhood.
It's a wall, alright.
For a fee of 3 euro you can walk about 200m of the wall and visit 2 towers, the towers have some photos of old Tallinn vs modern Tallinn. The height provides a nice view. You can sit on the benches on the wall for a while. Pretty alright.
Authentic medieval wall. Entrance fee was 3 euros.
Guy behind the counter was not very talkative but the music set you back in time.
Nice views over the old town, and on the other end there is another tower with pictures comparing present to the past with some descriptions
In the end... well, its a piece of wall. But pretty good one.
Worth a visit.
It's quite good spot to take some photos of the surrounding area as it has 3 floors in the tower.
There are also quite a few historic info which are interesting about the wall and the towers. Additionally it has photos from the 20s-40s comparing them with photos from today.
The entrance fee was just 3 euros when I visited it, which is reasonable.
