In the chapter on civil architecture, the birthplace (Etxeko Jauregizar) of D. Martín, were able to avoid it. Between them they convinced him that the house was on a busy road and it could accommodate kings, viceroys and other lords who left Pamplona or went there.nnIn addition to several viceroys of Navarra, among the most illustrious guests of the house is Princess Dª Isabel de Valois, (Mr. Martín de Azpilcueta calls her Doña Isabel de la Paz, referring to the peace of Cateau-Cambresis, signed between France and Spain in 1559), daughter of the French monarchs Enrique II and Catalina de Médicis. The princess passed through Barasoain and spent the night in it in 1560, during her trip to the Spanish court to marry King Felipe II.nnLater, Felipe II himself also stayed in that house when, in 1592, already old, he stopped in Barasoain, on his trip to Navarra and Aragon, to attend sessions of his Cortes. His Majesty was housed in the same houses where Dr. Navarro was born, who are the most important in the town, and the company went long and deviated again from the royal road on the left hand side, going down a bad path of ravines and stones to two small places, called Sansouin (Sansoain) and Orosuan (Orísoain), where it was night. »nThe house offers a monumental and majestic appearance and its façade, made of ashlar blocks, forms a wide horizontal wall of two bodies and attic between two towers, separated from each other by a molded cornice. In the first body, the mass predominates, only broken by the vain and molded access, flanked by two rectangular windows with grilles of the time. In the central part of the second body, two twin windows stand out, whose lintel rests on embedded pilasters; at the ends open two other windows with cornice at the top. The penthouse has a gallery of semicircular arches and in the towers are open bays and, above them, the brick eaves decorated with geometric motifs. On the cover you can see the coat of arms of the Azpilcueta, with the emblems of the lineages with which they enthroned until 1717.
