Nice ice cream with a view of the Seine underthe shade of an ash tree in the garden, perfect

A lovely property in a central location. The owner and family were very friendly and helpful. Our room was lovely and breakfast was wonderful.

Very nice, old and historical hotel. I can fully recommend for romantic tourist trip or any other stay. Very friendly owner, helpful. I like small kitchen in the room, with microwave and refrigerator. Also breakfast is perfect. It is rich and wide selection of cheese, ham, croisants, baguette, sweets...

The ambience of this perfectly located B&B couldn't be better -- in an old converted hotel (formerly Hotel Normandie) with its entrance through a flowery courtyard off a little street facing the Seine. Parking was easy on that street (Quai Grimoult) even though we arrived early on a Saturday evening. You step out of the courtyard and can see the ruins of the Chateau Gaillard up the hill on one side as well as the Seine straight ahead beyond a grassy park. It's a block away from the main commercial street of Petit Andelys with several restaurants. The rooms are one floor up the stairs (no lift) and ours was quite comfortable, charmingly decorated, and reasonably commodious even with the addition of an extra bed for our 15-year-old daughter. Even though the rooms face a commercial street in Petit Andelys, it was relatively quiet even on a Saturday night. The breakfast was unbelievably sumptuous, particularly considering the very reasonable €90 price of the room (and that the extra bed for our daughter, which of course included the breakfast, was only another €15). Along with the usual but ample servings of baguettes and croissants, there was a very generous array of patisseries, a good selection of meats and some great cheeses, fruit, fruit salad, and yogurts, and a coffee machine that made the most authentic old fashioned cafe crème I'd had since my trips to France in the 1970s and 80s. Nadine was a most welcoming and pleasant proprietor. The only thing I could suggest to improve the experience is for the Villa Alienor website to add a secure link for guests to provide a credit card number for an advance payment or deposit, as a couple of other small B&Bs we stayed at in Normandy did. While after some email correspondence, Nadine was most gracious about holding our reservation without a deposit, having this feature would make it much simpler to experience a stay at this most highly recommended and charming lodging. Our only regret in leaving was that we weren't able to stay more than one night.
