JULES bistrot gourmand

A fine dine restaurant, with lots of charm and character in its decor. You can sense the finesse as soon as you jump in the from door. A finesse that is clearly reflected on the menu and its cost. I'm not scared in paying a dinner €40 euro (meal only) as I've certainly had more expensive dinner in my life, but if I've to balance out the experience with the cost, unfortunately the standard was not there. The dishes are certainly very well presented, but this has to follow with the taste of what you eat. The starter were great, but both the main and the dessert were not. The meat was too harsh, and certainly not sure to the "a point" cooking. The polenta in my fish was an instantaneous one, served almost cold, which made the fish falling apart in the overall taste. As for the dessert, ultimately lacking in consistency, with the chocolate mousse with crumbles of chocolate that in not sure were intentional. By the time I came, the management eventually days they were understaffed, so they are excused for not having brought both wine and water when asked. The former was part of a small selection that is indeed very nice.

My colleague made our reservation and asked for a vegetarian option in advance to which they agreed to make something (because nothing was on their standard menu). Beautifully presented and tasted even better. To be able to make something off of the menu with little notice taste so good was incredible. Their willingness to go above and beyond to accommodate was certainly appreciated. Will be back upon future visits to the area.
