La Huche à Pain

Had a hard time finding this Yelp review because the sign on the bakery simply says "boulanger pattissier". This place is super french. And by that I mean I hate the people who run it with a passion. Thank you Yelp for giving me a tool to vent with. We went inside looking for the bakery next door that has a perfect 5 star review but it was closed. So we settled for here. We got a roll with cheese on it (tasted like mayo and ham inside which was gross), a croissant (decent but not mindblowing), and a green doughnut that was cram-filled with cream. Not bad but honestly I had to squeeze out a good portion of the cream before it tasted "right" which was a very messy situation. Also very unusual for me. I also had picked up the doughnut (there were many in the window display and they had little doilies underneath, so I assumed I could grab it) and put it on the counter so the shopgirl didn't have to fetch it for me. She spent the rest of the time clearly seething at me. I apologized and then said thanks after paying. To which she tried to avoid eye contact and simply grab the money. Man, next time the world erupts in war I hope we're not on the same side as the French. USA! USA! USA!

The staff very very friendly and it's pleasant, the bread is good, but then the pastries .... A disaster from the pain au chocolat through the croissant and the raisin bread ... Not to buy any more.

We are lucky to have a good bakery near our home. The bread is excellent, even if you freeze it, it stays just as good.

Baker very very bad. Disrespectful with my 14 year old son who was coming for chocolate breads for the family. And disrespectful with her staff to whom she addressed herself aggressively in front of the customers.
