As the site for the Gherkin was being redeveloped, archaeological digs found the tomb of a teenage girl between between 13 and 17 years old when she was buried. Carbon dating estimated that she died sometime between 350 and 400 AD, around the time of the Roman occupation. Her remains were removed while construction carried and and eventually three years later, her remains were reburied underneath the building. Not a must-see and really just a titbit of history if passing the Gherkin.

The tombstone is built into the pavement along with an inscription of the olive wreath, the symbol of SPQR, the Senate and the People of Rome. Her remains date back to 350AD - 400AD. It’s at the base of the Guerkin and worth a quick look if you’re passing.
