Steyning Medical Practice

The receptionist and doctor were fantastic. I potentially had Covid-19. I was given medication the same day. They were all so caring, supportive and understanding. Great service. Thank you

I have been dealing with Steyning health centre for years and try and avoid it at all costs. Do yourself a favour and go to the next town or village to register....especially if it’s mental health related!! On a positive note I think the reception team have improved a little although they still screen calls and it’s really hard to get an appointment. I’ve had a particularly poor experience with one of the partner doctors! Steyning will not deal with anything to do with addictions and getting help. However apparently it gives them a green light to patronise, talk down to, judge, berate and dismiss you! Dr G clearly has no training on mental health or addiction. I’ve found her to be very unpleasant with a total lack of empathy and ‘bedside manner’. I hardly ever go to the doctors generally however when I recently did the treatment or lack thereof I received was disgusting. She’s not fit to be a doctor and should never see patients that have mental health or addiction problems in their past or now. She’s berated me ‘you need to just stop, just stop taking it!’....she has no patience or time for people like me or you unless you have a physical ailment. I was left feeling humiliated, judged and patronised when I had to call for a physical ailment last week. She used the opportunity to demand to know why I hadn’t cut down on my prescribed medication (through Cfgl in Worthing and their doctor as again steyning won’t go near anything to do with addiction and getting clean)...I said that I was working with the doctor at CGL; ‘yes but why haven’t you cut down your dose??’ She demanded and then said she couldn’t prescribe anything for me due to ‘all the other stuff you are on!’ I’m on one medication!!

So many cynical comments here, it's like a BBC news Facebook post! Granted, sometimes it can be slow to get an appointment but this is like anywhere. The staff have always been really helpful when we've needed them. In one instance, my wife and I rushed my son in with a severe febrile seizure and they all created a focus team and sealed unit in the waiting area (it's as far as we could get him) and managed him while the ambulance came amazingly. So much care, empathy and professionalism from all the staff. My wife and I were blown away and really could never have asked for more. So before you knock this place on all the Neggy Nellie's that are moaning away, take some of these reviews with a lot of salt!

Appointment system is the worst I have experienced and I have worked in numerous surgeries. Seems to favour people that can make and take calls at their convenience. At the times you are advised to TRY and make an appointment is when people are driving or at work. Drs are brilliant, but not available or accessible when required

Great care received as always. Special shout out to the lovely reception team, always friendly and helpful. Lots of people just like to moan if they don't get what they want straight away. Expectations are just way too high now days and no appreciation at all. Try to step into these lovely ladies shoes and see if you'd survive a single day. People don't realise how lucky we are with our amazing NHS. Get a life, be responsible for your own actions, be nice and treat people how you'd like to be treated! Simple as that! Keep up the great work lovely people of this health centre. THANK YOU!!!
