It's incredible to ponder how these burial chambers were built so many thousands of years ago. Wouldn't it be fantastic to be able to peer back through time and find out!?

Another ancient Welsh burial site that both lets you get up close and study it in detail, and yet is still so well-kept. Set under an enormous oak tree, this is a particularly characterful, evocative site.

Nice little place and little bit out of the way. Don't make the mistake of going into the school or the residential street. There's actually a little path that leads up to the area behind the school but you will have to park on the main road.

More than a pile of rocks, this place has a special beauty!!

The Dyffryn Ardudwy Burial Chambers are a pair of neolithic portal dolmen. The burial site was constructed in two distinct stages, with the smaller structure several generations older. The internal structures of the burial chambers remain, with the portal stone, surrounding supports and heavy capstone still in place. The portal stones were never intended to move and the remains and grave goods would have been inserted through the sides. The chambers were them covered in stone cairns, the rubble of which is visible all around. Such stone structures can be found all around Atlantic Europe, suggesting sea links between the ancient Celtic communities. Evidence of Bronze Age pottery and cremated remains have been found in the larger dolmen, suggesting continued use millennia later.
