great station. use it every day. i buy a drink in that nice little shop.
The Arnos Grove, Piccadilly Line Underground Station was opened in 1932 and, at that time, its modern European style circular drum-like ticket hall was deemed to be a significant work of modern architecture. By 1971, the Arnos Grove station was Grade II listed, later upgraded to Grade II* status in 2011.
I use this station daily and it normally has staff to assist when needed. It also has community library where you can swap a book or leave books you no longer read
This much lauded Charles Holden designed station (completed 1932) retains a fair amount of original fabric, restoration and heritage display material
Despite Great Depression budgetary constraints the rudimentary functional interior still impresses with the novel and thoroughly modern use of reinforced concrete, glass and red brick.
By today’s standards the unadorned stairways leading down to the platforms are primitive and austere, detracting from the overall ambience here.... a touch of the Orwellian.
